As you guys all know I've been waiting to get my fences built etc to get into my new house. Well before that could happen, considering it took so long to get the keys, we had an award ceremony to go to in San Diego for my step father, who is also my boss. He was getting a lifetime achievement award for being one of the best attorney's in California for Workers Compensation. He's an applicants attorney. Anyway, that turned into a paid vacation for our family. SO we went down there on the 25th and came home on the 29th. Here's my lovely wife and I dressed up for the ceremony! The last time I wore a tux was at our wedding almost 10 years ago! I HATE THEM! I'd post up the pics of my mom and my kids but I know how you fuckers are! There'd be MEME's all over the place! So I'll move on! So the rest of the vacation was spent in the hotel room for a bit, cause the weather sucked believe it or not in San Diego for the first couple days, and plus everyone was sick in the family but us, sort of, so we were trying to stay away from the sicko's! But on Monday we went to Lego Land, which was pretty fun for my girls an me of course! I'll spare you all the pics in here, but I'll most likely flood the random picture thread a bit later with the ones from Lego Land! Pretty cool stuff! I will post these though, My daughters driving the little lego cars! And they both got their drivers licenses! So we got back, as I said on Jan 29th, and while I was gone my brother in law was able to come over and start demoing the fence at our house and get it ready. We had to replace the fence, cause it was rotten and ready to be replaced, but also the back yard sits about 2 feet higher than street level. But the fence sits at street level, so only about 4 feet of fence showed in the back yard side. We were afraid that my boxer would jump that if she was provoked enough. She already gets up to the top rail of our fence at home which sits about 5 feet high. So we decided that since we have to build the fence anyway, we would do a retaining wall as well so we wouldn't have to deal with it again in the future. So that's what this is! This is my build log for my fence and retaining wall! Fun stuff! So as I said my brother in law dug most of the trench while we were gone. Where you see the orange is where I did the tie in to the existing wall. it's not level, but it wasn't meant to be. Then I had to fill it with rock for a base for the blocks to sit on. Dewalt Drill and Impact Driver set! Rails up. 3 Rows of rails instead of the standard 2. Want this thing to be strong and stout! Then we picketed that bitch and she's a beaute! Gonna put a plant of some sort here! Maybe a crape myrtle bush. Gotta talk to the city about putting a gate or something here. It's where the cable box is as well as what looks like some kind of city clean out for the sewer or something. But it's a great spot for people to hang out at night and squat or whatever and I just can't have that. So I'll have to have that addressed soon! Overall Finished product. I still want to put some water sealer on it or something to prolong the life of it, but it's not priority right now.
