Loud & Low 8th Gen Civic - Time to say good bye to her.

I like how the orange carbon fiber looks on this.

I'm just throwing out Ideas but maybe an led light strip all the way around the bottom of the insert where the sharp corners are that you can't fill.

That way you could do the vinyl in a couple pieces.

Just an idea. Everything else you said seems like good ideas also

I'm actually thinking about doing the base black painted. Then do a cover for it, and make it a mold and then make the cover out of carbon fiber kevlar with the orange and black. It will sit right over the amps, allowing the face of the amps to be seen, and yet dress it up.

I'm thinking that anyway.

I have an idea! ;)

That negative space would be pretty difficult to wrap. I'm sure Mark (C.A.F.) could do it, but he's not human... :D

Painting is going to require a pretty good amount of prep work.

My idea would require much less prep and loot pretty sweet!

That area isn't going to get much continual use is it?

Just your amps mounted and nothing rubbing or moving on the surface?

Correct. I actually just went back and watched his videos. That's why I said I was way over thinking this.

For some dumb reason I thought I needed to finish it now before it was installed. Brain fart on my part.

It can be still wrapped in carbon fiber wrap, and I may still do that. Right now I'm gonna pull it, paint it black and be done with it. I'll move on to the base board in the trunk that everything is going to sit on, which will also sit on top of this. The next step will be building my battery racks and installing those. After all that is done, I can work on building the enclosure, or at least see how far back it's going to come. Once I do that, I can then start to worry about the trim and finish work on it. That's where I went wrong. I go too far ahead of myself on it. My bad.

So up next is to throw this in the trunk, without amps for now, and get that trunk board cut and ready.

I got this now! WOOT!

Problem is I'm at work and all I can think about is going home and working on this! SAD PANDA!!!!!

How about flocking? ;)

It comes out super smooth without needing the base to be as smooth as paint would.

It's also very easy to apply.

Here are the color options from the site I got mine from:

LOTS of options and two shades of orange.

I'm actually thinking about getting some rust brown for some accents in my car.

That's not a bad idea Jamie thanks! I'll take a look into it.

Do you have a link to where you got yours at?

Yessir!

http://www.flockit.com/index.php/products/suede-tex/suede-tex-applicators.html

It's a pretty cool process. I'd recommend anybody try it out.

You can also probably get by with just the "shaker-tube" as well.

I bought the air-gun, but all you need to do is shake the fibers over the adhesive.

As long as they apply evenly and whatnot, it should be fine.

If you really want to get fancy you can get the electrostatic gun which charges the fibers so they all align better, but my application came out pretty smooth.

:good:
