Need Help, Ported Box Build For Sa12 In a 2010 Cobalt

So then does my box look about ideal size and port area-wise for 600Watts RMS? I will be running a Pioneer GM-D8500M which is rated at 600 watts rms @ 2ohms. Also, question on painting the box, anybody got opinions on painting the exterior with rubberized undercoating? Would it cancel out some of my sound or just increase the output from the speaker and the port?

Ok, just got everything down on paper and realised I screwed up on the port, forgot to change the height of the port from the first box since I changed the overall height of the second box, so I just did the re-calculating and was actually able to get a little lower tuning and get the port area just shy of 15" per foot^3.

Ok, plans are to pick up the supplies Saturday after work and start building this bad boy. Any last opinions are still appreciated, I really just want to make sure I do this right and get the most performance out of this sub for my particular application.

Picked up a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 mdf today and got the cutting done, then I realised that Torres calculator fucked me as i forgot it wasn't calculating the port into the cut sheet, so I got one side piece I can't use cause it is 3/4" too short, but the rest I got all figured out so I will finish cutting tomorrow after work and will hopefully start on the assembly. I never knew there was so much math involved in building a box... Lesson learned!

Yeah, I hear ya, now I want to smack anybody that says building boxes are easy, stupid bastards, lol. Of course building boxes are easy, but building properly tuned and sealed boxes is not.

So i got some more work done on the box after work today, for the most part things are lining up, lol, few of the cuts were a little angular for some reason, idk how but hey, it works and it's going together and it's fixable so not too worried. So far I got everything together but the port/port extension and the top sheet.

I also wanted to know if anyone was for sure that the SA12 has a true cutout diameter of 11 1/8" because I wanted to know if I could cut the hole out before the sub gets here, but I don't want to cut it and then go "Oh Shit" when the sub gets here and I found out that the hole I cut is too big

Tip on getting subs into a trunk of a cobalt. Load from the front, take out the bottom of the seat 14.5" is the exact height where you will have no issues getting it in.

Ah, appreciate the tips man, must be you either own/owned a cobalt or have worked on one before.

Port's together, didn't have much time to do anything else with the box tonight but I have tomorrow off, so I hope to hammer out a lot of it tomorrow. Goal is to build the best quality box I possibly can, don't care if this is my first box or not, I want it done right.

I own a pursuit (same engine, same body, different badges.) your progress looks good. If you need any help with anything cobalt related feel free to hit me up. I have spent countless hours working on my car and have accumulated a lot of resources.
