yzfrider
I am looking for a 1000 to 1200 watt amp to run a pair of SKAR 10's. The AMP has to be efficient as it will be in my boat. Any ideas on how to find an amp the does not drawa lot of load on the Bats. I am also going to be installing a new 100X4 as well. Many people are using the PDX amps but I dont really want to go mainstream. Looking to spend around 300 for the amp but can go higher.
Watch the bass
Choose a class D amp like the AQ 1200 or a RF 1000 bdcp they put normaly a vew 100 watt´s more out than printed on them. kirill007
You won't hear a difference between 1000 or 600w. You are going to notice that your battery won't last as long. I'd rather take a 600w amp since you won't hear the difference at all. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for. Watch the bass
Throw a vew batt´s in your boat for the fun, here a nice offer of quality AGM marine batt´s http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/144556-dont-seem-like-a-bad-deal/ "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
Blackedout
Those PDX amps seem to have pretty low fuse ratings for their power output. Might be a good option. A lot of the Internet based brands are going to be on a level playing field as far as efficiency goes. Various companies are using the same build houses. You will pay for efficiency one way or another. You can probably buy an extra battery and run an inefficient amp by the time you've spent the money on an efficient one. If money wasn't a factor, id suggest finding a 2000-2500 watt amp and running it at 2 or 4 ohms. Trunk Build Log
yzfrider
I have a few good batteries already. I have the power to handle it. Its just I want to make sure that I when I do get new amps I get ones that put out good power and remain efficient at the same time

Every time I've gone from 600 watts to 1000 watts, I've noticed an audible difference. Trunk Build Log
