Roosta7
As the time to order up my next system is getting closer, i was dead set on a pair of Alpine type S 10's in twin sealed boxes that i will build. Well i now have another curveball thrown at me. I wanted some sundown 8's at first, but now i found some Alpine type r 8's that seem nice. I am looking for subs that will shake the concrete but not get loud, just lots of shake and good sound quality. here are some things i need help with to get that sound: 1. if i go with 10's should they be ported or sealed 2. would the 8's do well for this setup 3. oppinions on the alpine type s 10's and type r 8's they will be powered at 1000watts rms (Kicker DX1000.1) which was tried and true for my cvr 15's thanks yall New setup 8-9-13 headunit: kenwood excelon kdc x497 mids/highs: alpine type s 6.5 comps front/5.25 coax rear substage: 2 PSI pf1 high performace upgraded 15's mids/high amp: alpine mrx-f65 substage amp: DC audio 2k optima (for the time) red top in back skyhigh 0ga wires (minus sub amp, which is some borrowed 0ga, lol) build log soon
xPhobiazombie
1. If you are looking for sound quality go for a sealed box, but db's would be ported. 2. I would personally Sundown 8's. They are highly rated and never seen a bad review. 3. I wouldn't get the Type-R's due to not seeing high output like Sundown can produce. 1000 watts. I would recommend 2 Sundown E-Series 8's or 10's. Maybe even SA's if the budget it allowable. Goodluck!
SixTwoRado
I've installed a Sundown E-10 in my buddies truck and a Alpine type s 10 in a kids car at school. They were both receiving about the same power and the Sundown was hands down, way better. Just felt like a way more quality, heavier, more well built sub. Two sundowns E-10s or 8s will definitely get the job done. They are really amazing woofers for the price IMO. A ported box built correctly can still sound great and be more efficient. Maybe try two ported E series 8s if space is an issue, those will still do great.

john253a
Not be a smart ass or something By the sa8 need to be ported and I'll tell you they sound good like that I myself like the type x 10" sealed And a single x 10 sealed on 1k will be as loud as to 2 sa8 on 500, (if ran both setup) Because you only have 1k of power to play with And limited space by the sounds of it Have you thought about a single fiq15 fully loaded with high qts on that power in a sealed And if u have a but more space avaible get the low qts and port it
