TheGoat
Anyone put a 270 amp alt in a mk4 golf? I need a switche ignition source that has power only in the run position.
SnowDrifter
Huh? Why not just tap into the ignition? What does one have to do with the other? TheGoat
I was hoping there was something under the hood I could tap into. The new alternator has 1 wire and the factory plug has two. The One wire goes to one in the plug and the other wire in the plug needs power from a switched ignition source
MECHMAN
One of the wires on your stock alternator plug is switched ignition. There should be an instruction sheet that came with the unit that shows the plug, and which pin to connect to. We even put the proper sized female spade terminal on the wire so that it slips right onto the pin of the stock alternator plug with no splicing required.
