ric006
Okay so i have run through numerouis things and cannot find the issue with the rough idle in gear only. RPMs drop below 500 hundred then go stable at about 560 but rough This problem started about a year ago when i drove thru a small puddle of water when it started raining Things i have done Replaced sparkplugs and wires, No MIL states and tested voltages with snapon ethos MAF voltage is .82V ford says between .6V and .9V in drive Changed Crank Sensor Cheanged Cam Sensor Check for vaccum leaks with smoke machine all good changed both coolent sensors TPS in Drive sits at .92V good Changed all three cats (Had a small clog but allowed to flow that was throwing a MIL so i replaced hoping it would fix the problem) changed all 4 02 sensors (Part of Above since it was the easiest time to do it) tested fuel pressure 30 PSI good Checked all pulleys good Cleaned out IAC. Changed Fuel Filter Checked PVC valve Changed water pump Checked fuel injectors Screwdriver Ear Test Good Forgot to add transmission service 8 months ago tested and replaced front and rear trans seals and checked torque converter along with engine rear main. I would suspect motor mounts but usually it would be rough in park and neutral for that Video can be found here along with scantool functions
Hotdog
I see you checked your PVC but did you check for any other vacuum leaks? Hotdog
this might sound weird but I read where someone with the same problem changed out the Transmission filter and fluid and it corrected the problem. Hotdog
Check the transmission selector position sensor. (I think it's bolted on the side of the transmission, where the linkage for the selector connects). It'll have an electrical connector on it, obviously. If the sensor has gone bad, then the PCM will not know that you moved the lever and put the car in gear. The PCM needs to know this to bump the idle up enough to keep RPMs consistant when you have the engine under "idle-load". dog24fret
The Escort did the same. Found a vacuum leak that smoke test didn't find. Plus the IAC sensor and spark pack was intermentantly going in and out. After 4 test it took a diagnosis at ford house to catch it. After all that it's back. I guess it's a Ford thing which sucks.
