808faka Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 whatsup guys. i have a triple mechman 340 alt setup with external regulator in my 2001 tahoe. im in the process of a complete rebuild of a bunch of stuff inside the truck, but when i hooked back up my xs d3100 under the hood my voltage only goes to about 12.8 no matter what. i turned the knob on the external regulator and the voltage dont move. prior to removing everything from inside the truck i disconnected the front batt and then proceeded to remove everything. now i hooked up the front back a week later and it wont go past 12.8 also the regulator box is seeing power. and one more thing, out of my three alts one is really hot one is warm enough so i can hold my hand on it without moving and the third one is the least warm. please any help is appreciated thankyou.
808faka Posted December 25, 2012 Author Report Posted December 25, 2012 the only other thing that i might add is i dont have the other 2 d3100s hooked up in the back like i had prior to ripping out everything. didnt think it would make a difference but ill try hook them up tomorro.

808faka Posted December 25, 2012 Author Report Posted December 25, 2012 shit never even thought about the batteries being discharged...maybe ill try some other ones but no it dont go past 12.8 even with revving.
808faka Posted December 25, 2012 Author Report Posted December 25, 2012 come to think about it these batts got drained pretty bad before but i stuck them on a xs charger for awhile and then straight into my truck and it was running perfectly for months so maybe they did get drained. but whats up with the 3 alts being 3 different temps?

2000s-10 Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Sounds like a bad batt to me...and the temp diffrence..is the hottest one closest to the engine?? 1999 grand prix gt kenwood x994 head unit 1/0 big 3 all shok industry single run to the back New mid/highs coming not sure what Soundqubed q2200d at .5 (have) 2 soundqubed hdc3 12s (have) New box to be built.. sealed firing forward (yet to be designed) 200 amp alt not sure exact size or manufactor xs power batts
808faka Posted December 25, 2012 Author Report Posted December 25, 2012 at the moment the voltage with the car off is high 11s just a few weeks ago when i had my full setup in it was like 12.7 off and 14.4 to 14.6 when driving around which is what i dont get. i never changed anything with the alts or batts, just took out the 2 in the back and had the one under my hood disconnected maybe a lil bit longer then a week. yea this is my first multi alt setup too.
