Grounding to chassis question...

Well, I was out doing the big 3 to the blazer, I upgraded the positive from batt to alt fused 300 amp but I am confused with the grounds... I have factory ground from batt to engine block but its buried down near the bottom I can't get at it. When I add a new ground from alt bracket to "chassis" is that the sheet metal around the engine like in the Big 3 tutorial or would the actual frame be superior? and then go from the frame to neg battery?

I get confused by the simplest of things...

you can likely ground to the strut studs on either side of the engine bay :D

I dont start running ground ref cables untill 6-7kw

Floorpan is plenty good enough for that power.

Huge!! Huge thing to remember here guys is..

Always use the actual floorpan, not a strut tower bolt or some secondary sheet metal, meaning no vertical panels.. Secondary sheet metal is only spot welded to the floorpan. And is mucho no bueno.

Yeah, i had a lot of people tell me strut tower bolts also, then Ray said that and I thought to myself, "Well, learn something new every day". I think i am just going to run a wire back to the back for my ride. It's old and rusty.

I was going to do both. Eventually... Just for now wanted to do the big 3 up front while the battery and tray is removed. It's so tight in by the engine to get at that damn factory bolt... I will add to that one for sure so then batt to engine, batt to frame? and engine to frame?? oh my

Make sure you clean the metal really good, where the terminals contact the body, etc. It can affect the ground if its not a clean contact between the terminal ends and the body.
