0db louder then -db tracks..?

Recommended Posts

If you play with audacity, frequencies of digital music files are measured in -db's, with zero being the highest. If you play the 0db track, that means any song you play will not reach 1% thd unless it's +db's, use -5db, then any song that is under -5db will not reach 1% thd, go at like -4db, then you reached passed 1% thd. Same applies with -10 db and -15db, most rap music I see usually is around -10 db, Psyph Morrison reaches to -5db, and test tones are at 0db.

Here's a good picture explaining what I mean

Young Jeezy - White Girl, 32hz is at -9.6 db, which makes you stay under 1% thd with the -5 tracks, but with the -10 db and -15db tracks, you'll be passing 1% thd

The 0db track is a loudest track than the others so it makes you set your gains the lowest out of the other tracks. -15db is the quietest track, meaning it'll make you set your gains higher.

I have experienced the opposite of that

That's weird, I don't understand, if you were to go through the tracks, without touching the gains or headunit volume, you notice the 0db tracks are way louder than -5db, -10db, -15db,etc

In the DD1 instructions it says -5db will result in a louder system and the -15db will result in better sq.

You could not be more wrong. Go read your manual again.
