matt6288 Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 i was browsing through the forum the other day saw a battery distribution block, i liked it and figured i could have one made at the machine shop at the factory i work at. i explained to them what i needed and what i needed it for also showed the a picture of it. wont be a problem to make, just would like to know what the best maerial to use is? from what i see most people are using alluminum, but the guys at work are saying it will corrode real bad and i should use brass. these guys are by no means car audio people, so i decided to ask my fellow forum friends for advice. what should i use and why.

D-train-13k Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 most people use aluminum because of cost. and oxidation rate. aluminium is more resistant to corrosion than copper but costs less and is less conductive. both are soft metals. if your copper buss bar will be away from the elements and you can afford it go for it. and brass is not the same as copper. but it is a harder metalloid. like nickel plating something it just makes it more resistant to the elements and abuse.
