2 different amps

would it cause problems to link 2 mono amps together that are not the same amp? like a SQ 3500 and a BC 3500? (I like the extra power that the SQ puts out but for what I'm trying to do with my build the extra RCA outputs on the BC would be perfect) I was originally gna go with 2 of the SQ but they don't have any extra RCA outputs and I noticed that the BC does but swapping the 2 SQ for 2 BC would mean an almost 1kw drop in power so I was just wondering if swapping the slave out for the BC and keeping the SQ as the master would help save at least some of that power or am I better off just being happy with running 7.75k instead of 8.6k :P (I know boo hoo it's still more power than most trunk builds are running... just trying to learn lol)

Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol

you want to run 8000w and you're asking this question?

dude, NO. wtf? of course you cant strap two different amps together, even if they are made in the same place.

edit: you're not even going to see "7.75" or "8.6". rise and voltage drop will probably make you sad face at how much power output you lose.

I'm asking alot of questions so I can make sure I do this right I didn't think I could I just wanted to make sure why do you keep attacking everything I ask? I'm trying to learn everything I can about this so that when I do finally get around to doing this stuff eventually I won't screw anything up... would you rather I just went and bought 2 DC level 5s in a 2 cuft sealed box and a DC 10k amp and tried to run that on stock electrical because I didn't ask any questions and try to find out what I should do before I did it? this isn't something I'm trying to do tomorrow or something I'm asking as many questions as I can as often as I can trying to prepare for this and learn about it... I have changed what is going into this upgrade at least 3 or 4 times already and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes a few more times

its common sense though. strap like amps. its stupid not to. if you strap unlike amps, you'll break expensive things.

If you are asking such questions, then you should definitely stay away from that amount of power. :)

hey yall big boomers running insane crazy power were once little nubile know nothing noobs once upon a time too :P I just figure better to ask a million questions most of which may not even apply anyway and learn from the ppl that have already been there rather than upgrading my way up 50 times trying out all the dumb stuff and learning everything about car audio the hard way I'm not gna ask this question any more I know the answer to it now so I'm no longer as dumb as I was when I asked this question... the more you learn the more you know and the less likely you are to mess up big lol

i am inclined to agree with Kranny and the OP....no, u cannot/should not strap different amps, but it's good you asked before doing it

like I said I didn't think it was a good idea I just wanted to verify my suspitions rather than just saying "no of course you can't do that that's dumb and I don't want to ask and look stupid" ... I asked the stupid question... I verified what I thought... now I know for sure instead of just thinking I know

Haha, I hear ya.

On a side note, there is no substitute for experience, which comes best through the hard way, and also not cheap. lol...
