I've been building/designing websites since around 98 or so, and the stuff behind the scenes would really suprise some people. There are records of everything that goes on, (on servers and your personal computer) and the goverment can get the info. I did a few things I shouldn't have, but I was a minor and never got caught, so it wasn't that big a deal. Try messing with someones life like this, get an angry parent in the mix with their kid having a sex add online- and you've got potential problems with the law imo. That is stalking or harassment of some sort regardless. Anyway, if it's kids doing this to each other, he deserves it. It's only $100, but it's the principal of the issue. A lot of people would shoot someone for stealing their stereo, but if you asked the question "is a mans life worth a few thousand dollars" most would say no. It's the principal in my book, and I feel he deserves it. My Kid knows what work is all about, and would not be in this situation, but you have to remember they are still kids and everyone makes mistakes, he ( the original kid) is still a minor, and as we all know, we do stupid shit when were teenagers, I know I did. They wouldn't contact their ISP and wouldn't have to. Go to the ISP building or contact them on the phone or by email. And get the name of the owner. That's it. (City and state) Pull up there natinol records. and come knock on your door. Heres a good example. Its going to go off topic but here. BLIZZARD INC. Is the largest video game company on the planet earth. Their main game is World of Warcraft Burning crusade. Well awhile ago somebody devolved a cheating program for their software. I was stating that ISP's will hardly EVER help / release info. But yes there is record's for everything kept either in MYSQL. Or just Server side log's. You don't understand that the parent's called the cops. Called the FBI. Called everybody they could in their power and the only thing that happend was the Topic got moved into a private section of the Forum's. That's IT. It wasn't illegal.
