HHR Ed Posted February 26, 2013 Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 So you want to run about 2700w total. That will consume 3857w at 70% efficiency. So you need batteries that can supply that. What do you have already? What year s-10? First you choose the batteries, then you choose the alt needed to properly charge those batts. Check out the first couple pages of my build log for some good s10 2.2 alt conversation...including the belt you will need. Honestly i have no idea what kinda of battery i should get, i only want to run one if possible. Was think XS Power, being the best to chose from. Ditch the stock batt and fit what you can up front. You may only be able to fit like a D1200 in yours. 2002? You can look it up. A d1200 is good for about 2000w when used as a primary batts. You can try and fit a larger batt like a D2400 but may only get 3000w when used as a primary batt. It would be advisable to add a second small batt like an XP950 to supplement the power. Now, with that you can certainly run with the stock alt. Doing an upgraded alt will reduce charge time and run more efficiently though. Based on the aH of a D2400 and XP950 combined, youd have 122 total AH. So any alt 122A and up will do nicely. Mechman makes a nice 200A alt for your car.
