Antonio Moore Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 What COULD happen if I ran 2500 watts of true power on my stock electrical? Besides killing my stock battery could anything else really get damaged? Assuming my power and ground are large enough to carry the current without catching fire. What amp or amps are u using?
afrakes Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 can fry alt can blow amp can blow sub can have a really bad dayI think it would just ruin amp and battery not blow subs and amp but I would play it safe with more powerlol no. like will said, voltage drop makes amps clip earlier. so instead of being clip free at volume 50 at 14v, you'll start to clip at lets say volume 40 at 12v. and you're riding at volume 50 the whole time, you're just clipping the day away.Ohhh food for thought thanks. What amp are u using btwThinking an aq 2200 on lows with a small 200 watt amp on mids\highs that I already have. Not sure on the lows amp though, something that advertises 2000 rms but births around 2200 to 2500 Vehicle: 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD WT Head Unit: Pioneer DEH- Mids/Highs: Focal Integration ISC 165’s (front) Subs/Amps: TBD
afrakes Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 I just never knew what could happen besides my battery draining so low that it kills the car while I'm driving or something along those lines.
