Don't be an idiot like me and use half inch thick. Had to pay to have a shop tap them out for me.

That will give your hands a good workout

If you are only screwing into the batteries, 1/4 (stacked 1/8) is fine. But if you will actually be tapping the bars and screwing lugs to them, I'l prefer 1/2"

Aluminum is pretty soft. I've tested it and 1/4" strips out pretty easily
