Miguels Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 well technically you can have a custom grind cam work where you want it to. you just have to talk to the person making it and tell him what your wanting.. a very aggressive cam will have most power at the top rpms but with the ls3 and lq9 pistons my valve to piston clearance wont be much so it will be in the 621 lift maybe 231 duration my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Miguels Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 tb will be 92mm.. you really dont need a 102.. going bigger will lose power at low rpm. 92mm should be big enough my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
CleanSierra Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 Are you not switching out valvetrain also to compensate valve to piston clearance? Or that's why you're sticking to the lift you've chosen, to avoid the issue I suppose right? Money adds up fast doing valvetrain Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Miguels Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 pistons would be the only thing that would be needed to be replaced or fly cut to go with a bigger cam. its something im still looking into since i need to see what will be the benefit and if its worth it. my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
CleanSierra Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 Are you getting a used block? Not sure if you missed that question earlier. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Miguels Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 Are you getting a used block? Not sure if you missed that question earlier. used.. im not rich lol the flexplate i dont know yet.. going to check whats out there my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
CleanSierra Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 Be careful when choosing one. Aluminium blocks aren't as forgiving as cast iron. If you get one that's been thrashed, there's typically much less wiggle room to bore out. Try to stay as low miles as possible and KNOW the car it came out of. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

CleanSierra Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 Ohhh, well that's different then. Good idea doing that and just find a trusted builder and you're set. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Karkov Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 I used Flowmaster on one of my mustangs. For my next mustang (Cobra) I learned and went full Borla, loved it, not sure if they sound the same on a LS motor.
