enclosure opinions

I'm doing a big box, not a wall in the back seat of my corolla.

Now i am trying to decide whether to do 2x 18's or 3x 15's. I think the 2x 18's will be easier to do, though they will have slightly less surface area. my goal is to move as much air as possible, and i don't plan to ever meter it. opinions?

also:

i'm using torre's box calculator. I easily found how to get the desired tuning frequency i wanted, but i want to make sure i'm doing everything correctly.

a 7x7x8 port will put me at around 28 hz after woofer displacement. is that fine?

Your port area per foot should be 12~16 square inches

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

how can i do this and still achieve a very low tuning?

Extending the port length and shortening the width and or height of the port. Other than that you gotta just keep messing around with torres

whenever i get close to a size that will fit what i need, it says the cut-outs are too complex to display.

also. if my box depth is 24", is there a general distance you want to keep your port away from the back of the box?

For if the box is too complicated I normally just design it myself (almost always). And as a general rule you need the port at least as far away from the back as the height or width of the box. Gimme a bit and I'll upload a picture or two talking about what I mean.
