Ascendant Audio Mayhem 15 Box Build

Just some pictures of a box assembly I just finished building this morning for a guy.
He has a dual 1ohm Ascendant Audio Mayhem 15, He will be running an AudioQue 3500.1 at .5ohms to the single woofer.

Pretty much started off plotting the box design out on Term-Pro Enclosure software (left screen shows the box response, it changed a tad more with more tweaking to the box). Also had a couple other designs I was messing with for other boxes


Cut my wood to ruff sizes


Basic assembly started


Cut some port spacers


Dry fitting port

Gotta cut this down since its a little wide, normally Id use a round over bit, but I was after more of a peak or torpedo type shape vs a round over.

A little bit of clean up sanding to remove excess glue


Port gluing


Port glued and nailed, with a little bit of weight to help hold it down tight since I have no clamps to reach that far into the box


First baffle already on, getting the 2nd baffle ready




I use a lot of glue, my choice is Titebond 3. Always spread a good even coat, just pouring it on and assuming the pressure from the wood will spread it even is a no no.


More weight while I let the glue cure a little bit


Third partial baffle, just to give the woofer mounting screws a tad more to grab into




Rounded over the outside edges with a 1/4inch round over bit

How it will be once the other 2 baffles are routered out


Went to work on a side brace




Glued and nailed into place


Start of a brace for the back wall, top, and bottom




Test fit


Decided to make a rounded front edge

Then hit both sides with a 1/4inch round over bit


Glued and nailed in place


A smaller brace for the port wall


As if you havent been able to tell, I love lots of glue!

So here are some interior gut shots before I close it up, the 3rd partial baffle is just resting in place. It wont get glued and nailed until the top is on and the other 2 baffles are routered out so I can get it flush with the other holes.






Top marked out and ready for glue and nailing


Many passes with the router and the front 2 baffles are cut out

At this point I glued and nailed that 3rd partial baffle flush with the other holes


Routered the corners of the top and bottom to have the same curved radius, and sanded the dried extra glue off the sides.

Looking good. That's a clean box, I like the 45s you did as part of the box on the outside.
