Peyton Cole
I finally got my trunk pounding but now I'm having to go more heavy duty with all my screws and bolts but I think my trunk is killing my sound from rattles and possible bass leaks? Will deadening my trunk help keep bass in the car and most importantly keep it more responsive and clean? I'm running 3512s on a m2 so lots of boom Quote Team CNGraphix 2013 sonata Dc power 320 alt 3 kinetik 3 shuriken All knue and sky high wiring Dd m3b x2 Rockford 1000-4 2 fi sp4 18 4 vo 6.5 4 nendo pwx8 6soundqubed tweets 2 b1 tweets Pioneer avh4500 hu
OrzechNJ
Deadening will definitely proof the quality of bass (if you do just the trunk) and if you use it right will minimallize the rattling... but you have to remember that all trunk is vibrating.. the "hood" is hitting the bumper, the rear deck keeps hitting the metal pieces and so on.. deadening its a good start but you will have much more to do ! I took out the rear deck cover and the 6x9 couple days ago and it made a noticeable difference ! Sealing the trunk off is the best idea but its much harder than rolling deadener on the metal pieces... Quote sometimes Loud is NOT pretty Sounds like its safe to go ahead and bend that ass over. DubNDodge
The quality of the bass sounds so much better without all the trunk rattle. I had 1 12 rear firing in a ported box, rattled the crap outta my trunk. Which sounded decent, but that was the only bass I was exposed too. With my current setup I have no trunk rattle, or very rattle in my car for that matter. HUGE quality difference. To me it even seems to be nicer on my ears after listening to it for long periods even though it is much louder. Mikesmith0890
sealing it off completely is not what you want to do. If sealed off completely the waves are interrupted when trying to enter the cabin. Sub(s) forward, port forward, sealed off, or completely sealed with port through rear deck/seat. 1 Quote AlphaDamp Sound Deadening CDL Mat - The best Vibration Damper Ever! OrzechNJ
I have experience with Second Skin only... thats what ive used so far.. and firing the sub to the cabin without sealing it off will not guarantee you better / louder bass... I would start from deadening the hood... than take care of rest of the interior of the trunk.. you have to look in to your trunk and look on all the pieces that might hit each other and make the unnecessary noise.. sealing off the gaps would help ! you can also use the weather foam stripping around the hood that it dont heat the bumper.. / thats what im about to do.. heres pictures of my second skin job.. i still need to add more in the trunk, but I wait till it gets warmer... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/151858-2000-accord-second-skin-more-pictures-pg-3/ Quote sometimes Loud is NOT pretty Sounds like its safe to go ahead and bend that ass over. tdsa23
You can deaden the trunk yes it will help but for it to sound the best like how you want it seal it off Quote XS Power D5100, 2 D2700s, & 2 D975s MechMan 220a Alt DC 5K Kicker 650.4 2 12 Ascendant Audio Mayhem's Pioneer DEH-P7200HD Rockford Fosgate 3sity.1 Build log: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/166792-88-nissan-maxima-trunk-build/#entry2430899 https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/191439-lexus-is300-fi-crescendo-shca-rf-pics/

stroupe79
most trunk rattle is coming from trunk lid, license plate, rear quarter panels, and the area around tail lights....if you deaden at least those areas it will help alot....now to be honest like a few people have mentioned you could also seal the box forward into the cabin of the car and lose nearly all of your rattle....it's well worth doing I have run a setup with 2 15s sealed forward and had ZERO trunk rattle... like Crandis has his setup is a good example of what I am trying to say Quote http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
