alright so this is my friends system

he is running a 3k mono amp and a 2600 i wanna say 4ch amp for his mids and highs

he is running a extra battery and has some bad grounds I am cleaning up the grounds and replacing them with 1/0 his old grounds were 4g and terribly crimped I am also doing the big 3 any input on the big 3 i know one ground spot is on the firewall and one is by the alternator bracket i searched it on here but didnt quiet understand the picture any help with grounding this properly on the big 3 and last but not least anymore electrical upgrades ? i was thinking high output alternator for sure but anything else in idea?

if anyone has a build log with good pics and details on the ground spots and wiring job in the yukon/tahoe I would love to see it.

he's running like 3000rms at the most for both amps combined. those amp ratings are inflated (at least for the mids and highs amp...2600w LOL)

does he have a stock alternator? what is his voltage dropping to when playing full tilt? i can imagine he's dropping to the 12's.

id imagine he is to yeah it is stock alternator and I know the amps are not all that great but I am slowly trying to build him up so trying to do all the cheapest things before high output alternator to help him sound better

or atleast to try and keep his voltage healthier i am not sure what it drops down to as of right now.

looks to me like you'll have to tear away a lot of plastic to ge there. I think the hardest part will be to find somewhere on the engine block to mount the ground

well i seen someone mount a ground from the frame to the alt bracket then alt bracket to battery then another ground on the fire wall and then the alternator wire its self to the battery but i dont get where they went on the frame... i mean the alternator bracket even has a arrow pointed to where they mounted it that says ground lol

edit : either of you know know someone who has a good build log on a yukon or tahoe?

that was confusing lol, I did this....

alt bracket to batt (-)

engine block to batt (-)

batt (-) to frame

alt (+) to batt (+)

Just do pos on batt to alt pos. neg on bat to neg on alt bracket. That ground goes to your engine block if I'm not mistaken. I will take a pic when I get home.

This is what Mechman recommended btw.
