Check box calculation

Recommended Posts

Fi BTL n2 12" d2, 3000watts on tap for power (currently running around 500)

box is externally 36" wide, 14.5" tall, and 14" deep.

thoughts are, 2.5" wide port, 13" tall, 30" in length. According to my calculations, with .12cuft for sub displacement and .2cuft for bracing, this puts:

net volume at 2.11cuft

tuning at 34hz

port area - 32.50sqin total, 15.44sqin per foot

port ratio - 1:5.2

thoughts?

edit: sub forward, port forward, sealed off from trunk, strictly a musical setup, no number game here.

I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England.

Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.

ya, tires and paint burning make the marshmallows taste funny.

The box is double layer 3/4" birch all the way around. The above measurements only reflect one layer all the way around . Here is a quick sketchup of the box, the shell is aleady built, the front baffle is not on yet, nor is the port built in, so the box can have more depth (front to rear) and a different port. Height and width are already set.

It is already sealed off from trunk, and will be firing forward.

Hope this helps.

Looks like my math was slightly off in OP, here is a screen shot with torres with dimensions and specs I have in mind.

According to sketch, you should be selecting 3 common walls. That will drop tuning a bit more as well. Im also not sure why you want to double layer the entire box. The baffle yes, but the rest, not needed.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

Its in the trunk of a mustang. Box was built inside and is fiberglassed and sealed off already. Currently it is just a shell without baffle, but it was previously a 4th order for a DC xl. Just needed the box to be stout as we weren't using internal bracing.

Oops didn't pay attention on the port will. It raised net vol to 2.33 and barely changed tuning.
