How to wire an Amplifier

To an extent, "losing your rpm" is normal. Especially in a smaller engine. The amp is drawing power, which the alternator tries to supply, and the alt gets its power from the engine.

Do the big 3 and get an AGM battery up front. The bigger the better ;)

Sub is a dual 4ohm. The car is a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with the 3.8l v6 so its not a very small engine. Ive been reading and seeing that capacitors can fix a dimming problem. Also the amp wont take 0 or 1 gauge wiring. My 4 fits in it perfectly

capacitor will do jack shit.

rpms are lowering because the alt is under load which makes it harder on the engine to spin.

and lower rpms will make the alt output less power since its spinning slower.

800rms shouldn't drop your voltage THAT bad unless you're clipping the shit out of your amp, or your wire is too small, or your ground is shit.

I will also say this: a bit of light dimming is normal. My voltage is pretty solid (drop .2-.3v full tilt) and my fog lights and dash lights would still dim a bit. HIDs don't dim though

Hmm a lot to think about. I dont really have the money or do i want to do the big 3, so thats why i was looking at a capacitor to help a bit. I can get a 2 farad cap for 50 bucks. If it comes down to that i have to do the big 3 then ill have to just sell the setup :(

Doing your big 3 costs ~20-30 bucks. And I'm sorry but not doing it isn't an option. It's a requirement. Stock wiring is designed to handle stock electrical loads. Not the extra 120 amps an aftermarket amplifier will draw.

Good luck to you, and remember that this hobbie only gives back what you put into it.(that includes money and effort.)
