Sutliff
Going to be using a pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's powered by a RF T400-2, & 2 Fi IB312's off a T500-1bdCP. Crossing the subs over, at the amp, at approximately 120-125Hz, & having the subsonic filter on ... & the T400 x'd-over around 340Hz. My question is really how much am I missing in most music between 125 & 350Hz? Could I use the passive component x-over just for the tweets & wire the 6.5" mids straight through & run a lower (?) freq & get more out of them, or stick with the x-over's settings & be without the said missing frequencies? White Lightning
First ... Why would you cross your subs over up around 125 htz ??? Way too high. Are you trying to make up for missing midbass ?? The average cut off frequiency for sub bass is 70 htz ... Are you trying to make up for missing midbass ?? The average cut off frequiency for sub bass is 70 htz ... With my infinite baffle setup, I was told to xover around 80-100'ish ... For the sake of the post, and to pull a little midbass for a lot of the rock music i listen too, I was looking to reaching a tad above 100. Bad idea? As additional info, I'm not in the game to compete or show, etc.. White Lightning
Yes ... Bad idea, Not matter what enclosure setup you have ... Bring it down to or around 70 htz and let your midbass drivers up front take care of the rest (100 htz up to around 3000 htz ... Where are your midbass drivers located ?? Trust me ... just because I compete Sound Quality doesn't mean that sound qualtiy music is all that I listen too ... Sutliff
My 6.5" components are in the stock door locations ... damn near a kick panel install - Chevy did something right with their OEM speaker placement. They are passively xovered via the included xovers from Infinity right now . .. Tweets set on +5db. Sutliff
And when I said a pair of components, I mean a set. All I am running is simple front stage & the current subs & upcoming Fi subs in IB.
