I have a 2007 Silverado classic, sometimes my voltage rests at 12.8 and sometimes iit rest at 14.6. this is driving and at idle. like when I first start up the truck for the first time it will be at 14.6. then my next start up will be 12.8. then the next will be 14.6. should I be worried ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

SnowDrifter Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I don't think the brushes in an alt would go bad in 5 years. But I guess anything is possible. Can you get a new alt and swap it in to see if that resolves the problem? Also check the fuse box. My car has a 15a fuse for the alt sense wire.
