BL4CK M4GIC Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I've sold my old 500w Rms amp and am now wanting to upgrade a lil I have one jl 12w6v2-d4 and I found a kenwood amp that "says" it does 900w Rms at 2 ohm which is what I'l be running at. the sub max's out at 1200. Knowing the amp is a little bigger, i will be running it at low settings. yes or no? i can get a good price from sonic electronix for this amp HEAD UNIT - JVC KD-G430SPEAKERS - Pioneer 3 ways in front & backAMP(S) - Kenwood 1000wSUB(S) - JL audio 12w6v2CAPACITOR - Performance Teknique 2 farad (digital)SUB ENCLOSURE - Custom built to spec slot portedBATTERY - Duralast (for now)ALTERNATOR - ?WIRES - Pro auto sound 4 Gauge power & ground wire

It's input sensitivity: the ratio of the input signal to the output signal. Weaker input = higher gain, stronger input = lower gain. Position doesn't really have an affect on power. My gain is up about 1/12th and my amp is putting out full power. I have also seen people who can max out their gain and it's not enough because their input signal sucks. You see my point? lol Since you will be using less power than the amp can put out, you can always use the DMM method ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
