charging rear batteries?

im buying a kitneik hc2400 and what i been wondering is obv the alt cant charge the rear battery fully, correct? so do i need to charge my rear battery every so often or how does that work?

might be noob question lol

Your rear battery is connected in with the rest of your electrical, yes?

Charging batteries as needed is always a good idea. But you don't have to go out of your way to charge only your rear

Running one spare battery on a stock alternator isent too out there. If your funds would allow it the next upgrade you should get is a h/o alternator.. but these are not cheap! Anyway, you want to get a high amp relay. I believe stinger makes a 200a for around 50$? And using that wire your batteries in parallel. What that does is it breaks the connection between the batteries when the car is off. If your that concerned about straining your alternator they make trickle charge guys that you can plug into outlets, more so that you can have your accessory batteries charged before you start the car. But to sum up, one battery, as long as your not trying to run an excessive amount of power off it, youll be fine, just make sure to wire in a relay!

Going to ask a couple critical questions here.

First being: why do you think OP needs a relay

Why would you get a trickle charger that plugs into the 12v outlet when many cars actually break the circuit when off? That would do nothing.

How can you make battery recommendations without knowing anything about OP's vehicle or equipment?

And batteries don't strain an alt. Electrical loads like amplifiers, lights, and other electronics do.

just general advice man and like i said everything depends on how much of a load he's putting on the system in general. I reccomend the relay because as far as I know leaving a stock battery connected to a high amp agm isent good. but yes your right about the trickle charger I was thinking more of a battery 'bank' in usage. But im always open to furthering my knowledge, so i'm open to criticism on anything said, would hate to spread misinformation!..

I have a hc1400 up front in stock batt location and either 600 or 800 in rear. Stock alt. Everything's fine. I'm going to add a 4700 or 3400 from xs here in few weeks. As long as the batt is close to fully charged, should be fine.

Way I've come to understand, as long as you wire it right, is that it technically (in a sense) becomes 1 big batt. So you have say a 1200 and 2400 (or will here shortly?) Think of it as a 3600 (Don't think they go that high but use your imagination lmfao).

So as long as you give your electrical system time to recharge, and you're not full tilting it 24/7, you wouldn't need to recharge any batts as your alt would be doing that. I've had my setup for close to 2 years and if you want, I can go test the voltage out for ya sometime. (Watch, I say all this and my batts damn near dead)

But again, as sean.d said, I'm the same. Just stating what I've experienced and learned, I can be wrong so feel free to shove the foot up the rear and steer me in the right direction.

I don't play full tilt a whole lot and when I do it's not for long, I'm strange like that. What you said makes sense. I'm selling my hc1200
