I don't know my sealed unfortunately, I didn't think to test that lol. But What I did yesterday was make some small port plugs that cut about 5" off each side of the port. IIRC when I looked it up on torres it brought the port area down to 280 and gave something like 13 per foot for port area, tuned to 44hz. What's a good number to shoot for with a 4th order in terms of port area per foot? Is 13 too little?

Don't worry about port per cubic foot. I would try to get your port down to around 200 sqin if I were you. It helps to have a TL on hand to test as you shrink but anyways...200 sqin with as little depth as possible would be ideal.

If this were my build, I would try to shrink in from the sides and use PVC pipe cut in half for big round overs on the side pieces...look at the front port on my build if you're not sure what I mean by that.

I know its hard to believe that shrinking your port that small will help but when I shrunk mine down from 280 to 190 I gained 2 db. (also 2 18s bandpass). The tuning on paper may be out of whack but it should still play fine.

I'm gonna try a smaller port first before I decide to shrink the chamber or not, since ports are easy to Make. I've already had a noticeable gain in just adding these plugs. I'm gonna play around in torres some mroe tomorrow to get a nice port drawn out and have it tuned lower, around 41 if i can get it there and then add mroe power. If I don't get results with more power thats when I'll have to look into other measures lol

EDIT: only issue is whatever I shrink the port to, I gotta make sure I can climb through it without having to pull the whole port off the box. Itll be a bitch and a half to have to do that every time lol

Ok so I got some solid measurements and dicked around in Torres to see whats up. Here's where I am with the original port.

ORIGINAL PORT BEFORE PLUGS

Now, this is after I added the port plugS. They eat up 5 inches on both side of the port. As of now the port area per foot is MAD LOW. But it seems a decent bit louder now (i attribute htis to better compression)

WITH CURRENT PORT PLUGS

It's a little low on the port area per foot, but i have no clue where a normal 4th order should be at.

and here is another option i was playing around with . I cinched back the plugs a bit to regain some of the port area, and compensated for area per foot lackage by lengthening the port, which also gave me the tuning and box volume I want.

what do you guys think? I'm more or less lost when it comes to designing these things. I know very basic rules about ports etc etc. I realize that I'm almost at a 2:1 ratio anyway, so if I were to redo to a longer port id get the box volume i wanted regardless. I think I'll post a thread abuot this and see what everyone else says. I'm also wondering how much of a difference my power is making. Ill be upping to an AB 500.1 soon, and I know power is a huge factor. Will any of this adversely change once i add more power? right now its on an aq3500.1 at 1ohm

I think you should try what I posted above lol. Shrinking down to 200 sqin with roundovers on the sides...don't worry about port area per foot in bandpasses. Your second option will be quieter than what you have with your port plugs now

With such a large port area, your subs are basically behaving like they are just in a big sealed box. The ported chamber won't create any gain in output without the compression provided by the port

lol k guise im back at it. Got 1 week before school starts, so I'm going to try and get as much done that I can before School starts up. So far I've already started up on my door panels. I still need to find some new dummy panels to glass to, but it seems like no junkyards around here have any Ram 1500-2500s of my year. Guess that's a good thing to not see your car there, right? lol.

anywhoozies, here's the mockup for my door panelz. I was gonna do individual rings, but I didn't want to have that volcano look so to speak. So what I'm gonna do is just use these big ass templates and then glass those at an angle on the doors. It should look pretty snazzy when it's all said and done. More than likely gonna pant the doors. I WAS GONNA DO 15S IN THE DOORS BUT I DECIDED AGAINST THAT.

Inner circles are rough, but the outers are pretty even. I tried to take my time with the outer edges. It was all done with a jigsaw that has wobbly blade syndrome lol. I'm gonna sand down any funky spots.

I also have a few things coming in the mail very shortly that I've ordered, so stay tuned for that. I'll update this after Christmas since I'm gonna be busy.

I really like the cutout for the doors man. You could always make a skin of the door.

Ill either make a full skin of the doors, or ill just reuse the panels I already have. Im leaning towards the skin but itll take up a lot of glssing materials
