Yea I always wondered the best technique for soldering with those types of lugs...looks like it's a pretty solid connection. I saw your other vid where you bent the lug trying to pull it off.

I do them almost the exact same way, even use the same torch. Only difference is I don't twist the cable after its in the lug. I fill my lug half full so the solder just barely comes out when I shove the cable in. I found that if I dont twist the wire before putting it in the lug, the solder will wick up the wire right to the edge of the jacket. Nice vid

the reason i do the twisting technique is because its way to easy to have wire fray out of the terminal, and everything is way too hot to touch if that starts to happen

Yeah nice vid man! I like solder over crimping which is why I used open ended rings, but now I want to try this on some SHCA closed end terminals. They also make solder slugs for this situation but your way is just as easy I think a little cheaper as well.

me too, I could never get a crimp to hold like this method. the only way i have been able to get the terminal off the wire is to heat it back up all over again until the solder mets, otherwise, you will damage the cable trying to pull test the soldered connection, because its not coming off, lol
