sbg
I have a POS VVME 1500.1 amp right now and run it @ .5 daily, been 3+ months and it don't get hot and my voltage only drops to 13.8 from 14.5. i have DVC 2ohm subs so if i run @ 2ohm i get 600 w and if i run @ .5 i get more like 1000w and that 400w more makes my system way way more loud. but that's just me and i don't care about the cheap amp i have lol. i have ran a lot of amps @ .5 and ever had a problem. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines. Kyblack76
I feel like John is talking about 1ohm reactive. Not nominal... Then that begs the question: Why design an amp that depends on box rise to keep it safe? Why not rate it at 2 ohms? I may be wrong. I was not speaking for him bro. Kyblack76
And, in my search, the MIN impedance IS 1 ohm.... Minimum Impedance Unbridged 1 ohms again.. maybe im wrong SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
thefourth
Yeah it has to be 1 ohm stable. I've ran this one for 6 months at 1 ohm and gets luke warm at best Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd. Lifted2000Ford4x4
I wouldnt wire a Hifonics amp at .5 but then again I know next to nothing about them just that I wouldnt do it lol. the brutus line from them is really good actually
Lifted2000Ford4x4
try it, if it goes in to protect or blows a fuse then you know you have a problem. you should be fine
Nikitaaa
Definitely give it a try. Doesn't sound like you care to much about the amp. Wiring low is a great way to combat impedance rise, as you know. I'll be willing to bet you'll be fine. It seems like there is more people that get away with running low than don't. But those are the people that are aware of the risk and aware that they have a crap load of rise at most frequencies. You can look in my sig at How low I'm running my amp, and it's a crunch. Just remember that just because me or others can pull off running an amp below 1 ohm, doesn't mean you can. 2007 M/T Honda Civic Coupe EX (4) Sundown Audio X-8's (2) Ampere Audio 3800.1's (3) Stinger SPV-44 Batteries (1) Mechman 240 3:1 Ratio 4th order sealed from the trunkTEAM NWSPLBest termlab scores to date in Honda trunk:151.7db legal (official) IASCA trunk 3 classBest termlab scores to date in my walled Subie:152.9db legal (unofficial) IASCA advanced 2 class155db outlaw
Chris Hammer
Just do it, lol. if you don't care about, stop caring about it. There are epople on here who have ran them at .5 daily for extended periods of time, a prominent member or two, no problems.
