nikssem_eht Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Two 12" kicker cvts 4ohm. 99 f150 I want to build a ported box for em, but i don't have any ideas so far, this would be my first official build as well. Any help would be appriciated guys.
Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Which cvt there are like 3 different ones. You will also need to find your max dimensions and post them. I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
nikssem_eht Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 I believe they are the 2010 models.
Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Look at the bottom of the magnet and it should list the Coil configuration in Ohms and the model number of the sub. Krakin Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 The most important thing is to tomorrow go out and find the maximum dimensions a box can fit in behind your seats. Make sure to measure with were you keep you seats at normally so you don't make yourself uncomfortable riding with subs. And what amplifier are you going to be running these off of? nikssem_eht Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 Well I have them in what the local audio shop calls a "pro box" ever heard of that? At the time I didn't know much of car audio so I asked them for advice, the manual says the subs are rated at 400 watts rms and 800 max, so they recommended a kicker ZX400.1, it sounds good but I'd like to know if a different box would make them sound better.

Custom boxes if build right will be 99% of the time better than a prefab box. That amplifier is fine for powering two of those subs but being a single cab I think you will most likely only have room for one 12". You also came to the right place for advise. nikssem_eht Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 Thanks I figured if I asked people who actually built most of their enclosures would know more than a shop that sells pre made boxes. As for the amp I was thinking on upgrading to a kicker 750.1 or 1000.1 would that be too much? I'll get out tomorrow and measure and ill have em on here. Is there any box calculator that I could use to first off, help me understand everything that goes into making a box, and second, using my measurements to help come up with a box design? Sorry bout all the questions man, I really appreciate your help.
