I dont know much about building subs but that seems like a pretty big gap to me, especially with all the open space between magnets it seems like it would have good cooling without such a large gap.

But there might be other reasons for a big gap that I dont know about.

IF YOU WOULD READDDD!!!! LOL jk jk jk. No, but really........... I SAID it was my double voicecoil magnet design, but the same basic idea I'm going to be using, but fixed to hold the 3" OR 4" coil properly...................

Oh sorry man haha I was just scrollin thru and lookin at the pics.

You shouldnt have made the pics look so good or I woulda been able to read your post! Haha

I've gotten a blowjob and picked up my iphone behind her back to see what email notification I got from smd before

Thats what I tell myself when I look in the mirror. If you didn't look so damned good all the time, you wouldn't be late to everything getting lost looking at yourself for so long............. :ehh::ehh::ehh::ehh::ehh:

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

RIP 5/29/15 - I love you son.

Hey on attaching the two coild together I would do a ring out of something, I know you can do different length formers for the top, but where the spider would be do a delrin rign or something like that to cennect them both at a second point. Then spider to the outer coil.

I think theyre pretty neat. When the water runs down your crack as you let one out... its like shitting in a crockpot.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe you could weld them together or something using some spokes or something, then just use like 10 stacked spiders on the outer 4" cone

10??jeezuz you shooting for a fs of 60 lol. Something solid would be lighter and probably stronger then spokes connecting the tow formers, like a delrin or acrylic or plastic ring that has the exact inner and outer diameter as the two voicecoils, and like .5"inches tall or thick however you look at it. If you know anyone with a lathe or even mini lathe you could make one pretty easily. Use epoxy or thick ca to connect both of them, sort of like the triple joint ring you see on sundown and skar woofers (sundown logo), connects cone/vc/spider with a ring to reinforce it.

Still can't wait to see what you got going on, my bigest question afte doing all of this. How do you shim this when you glue the cone and everything in, unless motor can be removed from basket after you glue it up?

Yea, because of all the plates, it would be removable.

Awesome, idk if you have access to the tools to do something like that ring but IMO its the lightest/strongest thing I can think of to do what you need and not interfere or break. Im definitely in to see your progress this think is going ot be awesome!

Alright, well I'm getting too off track with the double voice coil thing. Lol I'll take it one advancement at a time, so for now lets just get a nice 18" ground pounder built.

So far I have The magnet pole, half the surrounding magnets, the cone, and the voice coil. I'll order the basket, gasket, glue, and dustcap tomorrow probably. I also need to look into what metal top plate I want to use, it has to be something that transmit the magnetic field very well. So maybe some high grade steel.

By this time next week I should be getting started on construction.

So for graduation my dad and grandpa and mom got me $15,000 for my first year of tuition, which is only $12,500, but i'll use the other $2000 for food. After depositing the $14,500 into my 529 college account, I have $500 in my checking account left over to finish up with woofer. Ordering tonight, should start as soon as everything gets here.
