Homemade Super-Neo Woofer: THE CHEVELLE RESTORATION IS DONE, dampener recommendations??

Haha, sorry man, was mostly being a smartass. It is probably 430FR stainless steel http://cartech.ides.com/datasheet.aspx?i=103&e=63

I'm somewhat surprised companies use stainless instead of regular steel, since steel is around 99% iron and stainless isn't exactly known for it's magnetic properties. It must be expensive to get the stainless steel which can handle magnetic permeability very well..............

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

RIP 5/29/15 - I love you son.

Read up on ductile iron: http://www.daycounter.com/LabBook/Physical-Properties-Ductile-Iron.phtml

If you cant get steel/iron thick enough then get two plates and weld them together.

Let me know if that hurts your brain :)

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Thanks I've seen that site, but the material list does not specify what grade it is. it just says ductile. I think I might go with steel instead, because iron is gonna corrode without any protection.

The grade is listed:

120-90-02

100-70-03

80-55-06

65-45-12

60-40-18

Lol-ski I meant the chart on my diagramming program, the site that build the piece, they don't have the grading listed is what I mean.

They just had the word "Iron | Ductile" But no #'s....................................................

They only have 416 stainless, would it be better to go with 1008/1018 steel or 416 stainless?

Before I even have to edit, scratch that^^^, it was $400 more for just the top plate in 416 stainless, ain't nobody got no time for that.

I was having trouble with getting the plate and the pole lined up, and I was going to have a piece milled like this:

But, as you can see in the order box in the picture, they could not make it. So I decided, I'll just buy more neo to fill the gap :)

So here's what ended up working, and here is what I drew up on that stupid ass CAD program and ordered.

The Top Plate; those small circular-cuts are 0.100" inch deep and I had planned on them to sort of let the magnet "slide in" and lock in place.

Dimensions: 7.8" inches diameter x 0.8" inch thick

The Base Plate; Same circular cut dimensions, but I also had the center pole circle cut down 0.200"inches deep so that it will really be secure.

Dimensions: 7.8" inches diameter x 0.7" inch thick

Neo-BasketBasePlateFinal_zps67b5166a.png

And an aluminum jig to hold the magnets separate while I glue them down.

Dimensions: 7.8" inches diameter x 0.100" inch thick

I'm starting to think this will compete with a DC Neo because they claim to have 2400lbs of magnetic pull force, but with my combined magnetic structure, I'm looking at around a theoretical yield of just greater than 4,100lbs of pull force. But because my steel plates are not a full 1" thick my overall will probably be around 3600-3800lbs......

So this could get interesting..............I might need more spiders..........................
