flood77 Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 ok so for those who know im unhappy with my current set up and know what subs im running and if you dont their the sundown sa-d412(x4) ok so i know the rms is 600 for these subs and im putting a 1000 rms to each one,am i doing the wrong thing here because i have a funky hard vibrating sound coming from one of them, atleast i think it just one.i thought maybe it was bottoming out,so i took it to the installer and the salesman said it did sound like it was bottoming out so i took it to another shop and they said it wasnt bottoming out and that it may be the enclosure itself ,now these subs are about 6 months into being used.is there a way for me to determine if there bottoming out since im getting different opinions from two different shops? and also can tuning to low cause a sub to bottom out?
Nightshade Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Pull the stubs out of the box and check the triple joints on them. If you play below tuning this is a possible point of failure on any sub. The way to check is to push out on the cone and look for any cracks or seperation where the back of the cone is glued to the spider. Another possibility is that one of the dust caps has come unglued and is an easy fix to reglue it. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
flood77 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 ok so i pulled the subs and found nothing i also pushed in the sub as far as i could(slowly) and no rubbing, grinding and never hit a bottom.
BobbyG2 Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Is it the closest sub to the port? *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
flood77 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 their all relativly close to their port.but this is pretty sudden that it started doing this
Jessica Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Arent you the guy with the four sealed boxes with pvc in them? Your boxes are kinda small and without actually seeing the box there is no real way to know what volume it is per sub, plus you dont have enough port area at all. That noise is probably that pvc rattling around in the box, did you check to make sure they are glue together good? Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Jessica Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 You really should go take pictures and upload them to photobucket. Then paste the URL of each image here. Don't worry about embedding, or the URL tags. We can fix that if it's too much trouble. edit: here read this it will help http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/160056-how-to-post-pictures-on-the-forum-photobucket/ Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
