DroppedSdime Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Would it be pointless to do a 4 gauge big 3? I know everyone uses 0 gauge but i have a ton of 4 gauge laying around, so i was wondering if i could just use it instead being that the runs are so short would it make a difference? bcbrassard Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 4 gauge would be fine for a smaller system pushing around 2000 watts total. any bigger any 0 gauage would be best. Any improvement is better than none.
DroppedSdime Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 ok thanks! I plan on running a skar lp-1000.1d so i should be good with 4 gauge right? SPL Audio 18, 5.5cb ft tuned to 34 hzAB 150.1 @1400 rms wired to 1OhmPPI A26.5'sKenwood HU
bcbrassard Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Yes, like i said any upgrade is better than none, most factory electrical is 8 or 10 gauge so 4 is stronger than factory and will help over all. Not hurt. Most will say 0 gauge is the only way to go but if you have that much 4 gauge handy and your system is smaller than i say go for it!
Lifted2000Ford4x4 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 look at it this way... anything is better then stock wiring! and its also a question of amps. 4 gauge is good up to 150 amps... anything over that you want to go bigger. and it shouldn't cost much to do full 1/0 or 2/0 (SHCA) wiring.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 You'll be fine with 4 gauge. But if your ever gonna go bigger you might as well just do 1/0 now so you don't have to redo it in the future. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
DroppedSdime Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 I would rather do 1/0 but Dipers cost to damn much lol so im trying to save as much money as i can and still do the system right. SPL Audio 18, 5.5cb ft tuned to 34 hzAB 150.1 @1400 rms wired to 1OhmPPI A26.5'sKenwood HU
DroppedSdime Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 yeah it will get done tomorrow I hope. SPL Audio 18, 5.5cb ft tuned to 34 hzAB 150.1 @1400 rms wired to 1OhmPPI A26.5'sKenwood HU
DroppedSdime Posted June 10, 2013 Author Report Posted June 10, 2013 Should I put a anl fuse on my alt wire? If so what size fuse? I'm also going to be running 0 gauge instead of the 4 gauge.... SPL Audio 18, 5.5cb ft tuned to 34 hzAB 150.1 @1400 rms wired to 1OhmPPI A26.5'sKenwood HU
