It was kind of a spur of the moment purchase but 75bucks not bad for a 16ton hydrolic crimper Also got my final d2700 from SKY HIGH CAR AUDIO...although the shipping address was from stevemeadedesigns....? either way its here wich was perfect timing to get started on the new amp rack! Ripped out the other two and the rack to get measurements, thats one big mess lol! chikenscratch of what it will look like, sry it came out rotated 90 degrees to the left if that helps lol! Cutting up some angle iron Really happy with the fit so far! very snug! Here is where we stopped because I need some flat strap and didnt have any that matched the thickness of the angle iron so maybe tomorrow I'll finish it So far that is just tacked up incase we have to fix or adjust something but still need a few pieces and then it'll be done! Im really happy with it so far! so if anyone is wondering why I'm using d2700's its because of how they were layed out before it would have been at tight squeeze if I used d3100's like most people do for battery banks. It would have been even worse with this box because its a half inch wider. If I would have thought of doing them this way I would have had room to do 3 d3100's and had just a little bit more amphours and a few more cranking amps....but oh well I didnt feel like I could get enough money out of the 2 27's I already had so I would have spent a boat load more money just to gain a few more amps and hours. The cost is about 20bucks more for the 31's so if I would have planned a little better it would have been worth the money but I think this should work just fine for the setup I have Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. But more thank likely I'll be glassing today, gotta get this box together! and wrapped. So we will see what happens today..... Video may be a few weeks from now but I'll definatly try and get one posted once its fired up and subs broke in....that is if these amps can break them in haha jk! goodvibez Posted December 8, 2013 Report Share Posted December 8, 2013 So it was in the high 40's low 50's today nothing to complain about but it did make fiberglassing a bit slow! Even after I mixed in almost twice as much hardener as recommended it still took quite a while! So still need to sand down the high spots then and one last layer of heavier oz matting and probably and tuck some 4" strips in all the joints to seal it and depending I may slightly sand it if its too rough for my liking. Idk I will probably be fed up by then and just call it good! Honestly I dont think its nessessary for me to fiberglass this box I think it would be ok without it but hey might as well go all out and make it as solid as possible. Tomorrow's plan is to finish welding the batt rack and I should be posting more after that! Also grabbed another gallon of resin because I"m already one down lol! Got the bottom legs on Sooo yeah should be plenty strong, just need to mark and drill the holes for bolts and cut some flat strap for the actual hold down bar.
