putting a double din in a 1.5 slot

Recommended Posts

i have a kenwood 6.1" DD deck that i got for my neon. i know that its gona take some custom work to get it to fit and for the faceplate on the dash to look right looking for advice and tips modifying my console to fit my deck.

I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

Use a dremel to trim out the space for a double din bracket, get a can of body filler and some sandpaper and go to town lol. Google some Neon forums to see how other guys do it. Here is a pretty good one done, courtesy of google. http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f40/double-din-screen-finally-installed-521787/

Looks like you're going to have to move some switches, so parts express can help you out there. Imo, before you cut your factory dash, go to a junkyard and get another one, do the cutting on that one and paint it how you want it.

I like that idea right there... Save the OEM part in the event you want to sell the car and install the stock head unit back in...
