But i guess my question is how do ya'll feel about it? Is it a decent alternative for someone who doesnt have a dd1 and isnt close to anyone that does have one? plus another one of my questions is would the equation for doing it vary between a mono amp and a two channel amp thats bridged? bassinyerface Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Its technically impossible to tune with just a dmm. This is for many reasons but one being u dont know all the variables. With a dmm u can read volts and amps and thay equals power right? But in an amp setting that doesent because music is dynamic 1st off and second off because a speaker isnt always at the same load. So. Its not always ganna be the same power. Also a dmm cant show u clippinh distortion or anything of that matter so. You really cant use it for much. TeamHT Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 It's not impossible, that's just a fallacy. Of course you can set your gains with a DMM. Feel free. But understand the point of setting your gains is to match output/input voltage...which you can't do properly, and you won't be able to detect clipping. Can you set your gains? Sure. Can you do it the best way? No. You can also see if there's an o-scope in your vicinity. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

I was busy as all hell yesterday and when I got home my internet wasn't working so I just went to sleep. Looks like the dmm technique wasn't as reliable as I thought it was haha, but thanks a lot for the feedback guys
