From_the_Valley Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I'm pretty sure it's to eliminate error messages from the computer on certain cars. The canceller is suppose to trick the computer into thinking the stick bulb is there. Hope that helps
kickass audio Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 ^^like he said. It prevents newer cars from showing the message that your .... bulb is blown. All it works as is a resistor that tricks your cars computer into thinking that the old halogen bulb is still installed. Halogen bulbs have a different resistance than HID bulbs and your computer will think a HID is an broken bulb because it looks at it as if its an open circuit. You don't need those if you have older vehicles that don't have the bulb out detection or if you can just deal with it saying the bulb is out on the dash. To see if your car really has that blown bulb detection feature take one of your headlights and disconnect the light from the socket. If nothing comes on in the dash to indicate the bulb as being blown then you don't have blown bulb detection and can just forget about getting that canceler option. If it does show a message that that bulb you pulled is blown then you need the canceler option. Also as a friendly reminder, don't forget a relay harness.
