john42sd Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 I just had my new 270xp put in my 2001 4runner and my voltage is lower than my stock alt. I have left OEM wiring and added 1/0 with 300A fuse to (+), added 1/0 from alt mounting bolt to vehicle frame (ground down), added (-) to frame (same bolt as alt ground), (-) to chassis, Only wire I did not upgrade was from the fuse box under hood to (+) but I dont see how this would be the issue. My stock alt would start up at 14.2-14.4V and driving I would get 13.2-14.0V depending. Now I start up at 13.7 and drive at 13.5 but fluctuate from 13.3-13.8. I have checked the battery while off and it is at 13.06V (Stinger SPV69c). What did I not do correctly or do I need to bypass something on this vehicle. Thanks in advance!
Guest DC Power Kyle Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 The newer Toyota Denso regulators are a little sensitive. You may have a lower voltage at start up sometimes. What do you drop to with your stereo at full tilt?

Everything Ive seen shows that on start-up, my voltage should be 14.2-15.0 . I honestly thought by installing this, I would NOT see a voltage drop below 14.4 while driving

Could consider getting an external regulator t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

I have my T1500-1 @ 2ohms pushing 2 Alpine 12D2's and my mids/highs are on Kenwood X450-4 @ 4ohm. So a little over 2000 continuous.
