Bence
I plugged the RCA cable directly into the DD-1 from my CDA-9886 from both the front output and the sub output. I was unable to get the distortion detection light to come on even at full volume, which is 35 on this head unit. Is this normal? If so then where shold I set the volume level in order to set the gain level on the amp from the speaker level output? Also I noticed that when I am testing the mid and high amp for distortion it will change depending on where the crossover is set on the amp. So I turn the gain all the way down, the crossover all the way up, set the gain with the DD-1. I left the DD-1 hooked up and turned the crossover down and the distortion light came on. So I'm confused as to what I am doing wrong.
Kyblack76
Well.. sounds like your just fine. If your doing it correct, not getting distortion on a deck, is totally normal. Some decks dont distort, and are safe at full. So, your level you are safe at, is MAX on the HU. Yes. Like the directions say, gain all the way down, Xover all the way up or off, HU, FLAT..... play your tone, set gain to light. Go bang..... Bence
So just to make sure I understand correctly... Gain all the way down = Min or 0. On the amp I have the crossover has two numbers 32 and 320. Is all the way up 320 or 32?
Kyblack76
Is there a switch on it, for HIGH or LOW pass? Is this your mids and high amp, or sub amp.... ? Bence
There is a switch on it for high and low pass. And it is for my Mids and highs.
Kyblack76
As long as your set ON HIGH, You should see the 1k signal. Ok. for fun, make sure your on HIGH PASS, set the xover to 32. Gain all the way down, or to zero, or MIN. Play/repeat track 4 or i think 6.... track wise .. its up to you.... (4 will be more for a SQ want, and 6 will be louder) You should get the 1k signal light. Then, while maintaining the signal light, turn the gain up till you see the distortion light come on. And your set. Then readjust your xover point to your liking... Enjoy!
