Pushing the switch resets the contacts. It works like a circuit breaker.

IF the car restarts for you without pushing the switch I doubt thats your problem.

PURPOSE

The inertia switch is used to shut the fuel pump "OFF" in the event of a collision.

OPERATION

When a sharp impact occurs, the ball breaks loose from the magnet, rolls up a conical ramp and strikes a target plate. This opens the electrical contacts of the switch and disrupts power to the electric fuel pump. The engine will quit running within a few seconds after the fuel pump looses power. The inertia switch must then be manually reset before the engine can be restarted.

CONSTRUCTION

The inertia switch consists of a steel ball held in place by a magnet.

WARNING: DO NOT reset the inertia switch button if you see or smell fuel.

my girlfriends dad said something about it possibly being a module of some kind... fuel module? or maybe my pump is going out on me.

Sounds like your pumps starting to act up, in your trunk drivers side theres a switch for the cutout, try pressing that and see if the light goes out, i doubt thats going to fix your problem but the light should be taking care of.
ahhh great, yeah i just love this piece of shit rofl. what will pushing the switch do? have any idea where it is? would it be on the side under the plastic housing or under the carped by the wheel well? thanks

see where it is now......:lol::lol:
