1996BLKBauer Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 OK, so I am doing a custom dash on my Explorer, and what I want to do is have USB plugs so that I can charge my phone, and GPS while driving, without needing the large, bulky adapters out of a regular 12 plug, Anybody know where I can get regulated female USB plugs that I can have on my dash? I am OK with mounting the regulators behind the dash, I am just tired of the damn things taking up room in my glove box. I keep searching on Google for regulated female USB plugs, and it really doesn't show me what I need... 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 AWD So far with the Ford/JBL Stock Stereo system, Alpine System coming soon.

Nasty1 Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 I bought 1foot USB exstention cords , cut the Opening out for the end. Then cut that piece out and glued it behind the piece that I cut to fit the hole in my dash. Sorry about the spelling. It sounds confusing but it's really easy 2 DC Audio lvl 4 xl 18s D .7s walled off @ 30 hz 19 cubes net 245sq in of port Sundown 3500 @ .7 Ohm Sundown 100.4 Rockford Fosgat Power Series 5.25 Dash 6.5 Kicks 8 Coaxils Doors 250 mechicman alt 1 red top under the hood 2 yellow tops in back big 3 with 1/0 knukonceptz wire 3 runs of +/- 1/0 knukonceptz wire IT LBS
Nasty1 Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 I glued the base of the USB to the first piece of abs and when u add this to the piece to the outside one it sits flush. 2 DC Audio lvl 4 xl 18s D .7s walled off @ 30 hz 19 cubes net 245sq in of port Sundown 3500 @ .7 Ohm Sundown 100.4 Rockford Fosgat Power Series 5.25 Dash 6.5 Kicks 8 Coaxils Doors 250 mechicman alt 1 red top under the hood 2 yellow tops in back big 3 with 1/0 knukonceptz wire 3 runs of +/- 1/0 knukonceptz wire IT LBS

Alright cool, I am pretty sure I understand what you mean. Shouldn't be that hard though, I'll just have to use my imagination. I was considering using one of those, BUT I have had nothing but bad things happen with them. First it fried my old BlackBerry, and then again, another one fried my Samsung Galaxy SII, Although they have the flush look, I refuse to use the electronics from them at all. 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 AWD So far with the Ford/JBL Stock Stereo system, Alpine System coming soon.
