beau123 Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Hello i am trying again to design a box for my 15 l7 i have a sedan car now so it is hard to get the bass in it sounds to high it sounds like my neughbours are having a party. so i want to do a box of 140 liters and blow through the speakerhole in the frame into my car . i have putted it in winisd to check what it should sound like. it is tuned to 37 hz like John said. i listen to almost everything except hardcore and rock music more rap r&b where the bigger subs are ment for. Or can someone else help me with more experience. i also like the Joe x designs but does that box work in a sedan?
Joe X Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Those plots look so off that it's not even funny. I would recommend just listing the electrical upgrades you have, amp and vehicle models, and the specs of the box you have now that is not working for you. Also max dims for a box.

It is for in an Seat cordoba 2002 1.6 16v sedan i have 0/1 gauge wire(50mm2 called here) ground and power from the front battery. an aftermarket alternator 170 amps. 2 Exxide ep450 batteries. Pioneer avh 6300bt headunit steg k2.02 mids& highs amp Gladen audio radion 165 component set Kicker zx 2500.1 sub amp 1 kicker L7 15'' dual 4 ohm. the max dimensions in cm are 82X53X43 cm it can be a little big larger on the 43 cm but then i must buid it in the car and can't take it out. i like it more when i can pick it out when we are on vacation so i can put more stuff in. i have a travel subwoofer for then
Joe X Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Ok a a few things, the amp is too much heat for that sub, you will need to set your gains accordingly, second the net volume I managed with your dimensions is rather low, it still can work but the spec may not be that great, third you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit before building. Now here is the suggestion sub/port frontwards, read the notes below the pic: Enclosure Specifications:Fb = 34 HzVb = 4 ft^3External Height = 40.5 cmExternal Width = 82 cmExternal Depth = 56 cmPort Width = 10.5 cmCut Sheet List:* All Dimensions in Centimeters.* Wood Thickness is 1.8 for all Parts.External Enclosure Parts:Front = 69.7 x 36.9Back = 82 x 36.9Left & Right Sides:Side 1 = 52.4 x 36.9Side 2 = 54.2 x 36.9Top & Bottom = 82 x 56L Port Internal Assembly Parts:Front to Back = 41.9 x 36.9Extension = 11.25 x 36.9 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): Important notes:- All boxes built outside the vehicle need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.- The port needs 4" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

john253a Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 yes more depth will incress the net, so youll get more out of it bet bet is to double check all the measurement then triple check, also make sure you have room for the sub and port to breath, youll need atleast 4" 100mm in front of the box,
Joe X Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 What I would recommend is test fitting a cardboard dummy box and make it as large as possible keeping 4 inches (10 cm) free in front of the box and post those dimensions. Don't change the dimensions of the box or port above randomly, post the dimensions as said and I will look into doing some fixes to it.
beau123 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Report Posted July 7, 2013 the biggest i can fit in there is 42X83X60 cm and then i still have to put the amps in there. maybe i have to make a false floor for it. this is what just fit inside.
Joe X Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 16.5,32.75,21.25 (inches) achieve 4 cubes @34Hz which would be an ok spec but still you would need to make sure there's 4" of free airspace in front of the port and that you have space for your amps.
