Xrs Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and relatively new to car audio. I'm having a problem that has been on going for a couple weeks now maybe some one can help me out. Anyways I have been experiencing some weird changes in volumes recently in my woofers. It will be very loud when my car is turned on and has sat say overnight but when I start to turn it up some times after a few songs and sometimes after an hour or so it would sound like the volume would drop about 50% and then come back on and off untill ultimately staying at around 50% of what normal usually is. Now it runs at 50% all day everyday and is very disappointing when your bumpin hard then all of a sudden it sounds like I have 300 watts playing. I've check my ground and all my wires and I've watched my amp and it doesn't appear to go into protection mode from what the light indicates. I have a 2010 toyota corolla xrs and I'm running 2 JL audio 12w7ae's on a JL Audio 1200/1 HD off a Alpine IVA-NAV 20. I have put an optima yellow top in but have ran no secondary batt yet I'm also still on my stock alternator which is 100 amps, is it possible that my alternator is kicking the bucket ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!! -Matt
zydrix Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Voltage drop. U need to do the big 3, an at least have a secondary batt, that should take care of your problem. bdog Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 the hd series have a "safe mode" if you run it out of the parameters REP
soundstream15 Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 like others stated. do the big 3 in 1/0awg and add a second battery, you should actually be a little louder by doing this too=) if you dont know what the big 3 is. upgrading 3 main charging wires alternator to battery + engine block to battery - battery to ground
