TRON Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 You can get two wicked nice subwoofers for $1000, but they might vibrate the bolts out of your car. Cruise around on the forum here, there's lots of good brands to choose from... Most folks here are going to say that same sort of thing: If your still running stock, make sure you have the means to power your system. I'll leave it at that. Sundown is releasing their 'X' series soon, those have nice big surrounds if that's what you're looking for ( real thick rubber ). Also, remember that building the enclosure is very crucial to satisfaction, so if you get a good quality driver but cut corners on the enclosure, sadness begins. jarrius Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 Soundqubed sdc2.5 10 and there 1200w amp run it at 2 ohms in a custom ported box. Edit: and its going to be hard to "limited" the rattle and vibes. Hitting hard and vibes go hand and hand. This is a BMW. Not a Tercel. And he said he has a budget of $1k for the sub. And that's your suggestion? Lol. OP- a budget of $1k for the sub leaves it WFO (wide fuckin open). you can basically have any damn sub you want with that other than something exotic like a DDZ or UL12. I wouldn't suggest more than maybe 1500w or so. Our batteries are beefy, but any more than that is pushing it. hay he said he wanted limited vibes lol so thats what i thought of. I was going to say get a HDC3 10 or 12 and a 2200w amp but that would shake the whole car wich he does not want lol. thus i went cheap as hell MUHAHAHA. sorry my mind is not all here right now please leave a messasge after the beep......BEEP 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
jarrius Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 ok i will step it up a bit yo can go with the FI BL 10 fully loaded on a 1500w rms amp in a custom ported box. It will give you Plenty of thump but it will rattle your car. LEVENDIZ Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks guys, i didn't mean rattle in the sense of the car, i was under the impression you could buy a sub that had a big clean thump and not as many of those little vibrations that come from most (all) subs? Unless it just depends on the type of music you listen too...
jarrius Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks guys, i didn't mean rattle in the sense of the car, i was under the impression you could buy a sub that had a big clean thump and not as many of those little vibrations that come from most (all) subs? Unless it just depends on the type of music you listen too... I have never heard a sub *rattle* unless it was in a bad box what was falling apart. Big clean thump comes from clean power going to the sub form the amp, a good box, electrical in the car to support the system, and a good sub. If you want BIG thump you can get that from a 10in sub. The FI BL 10 i suggested or Soundqubed/AQ HDC3 10 will produce that with ease. Just put a good 1500w or 2k and tune the amp with a DD-1 or O-scope and you will have what you are looking for. BUT you need to make sure if you go that high you have the Big3 done and at least a second battery in the trunk. (im no expert on electrical so you may need more) As for amps SQ has a 2200 that is not badly priced and does rated. There is also RF Sundown DC crescendo...ALOT of good amp companies out there. Take a look on this fourm and read some reviews on some different types of subs and different amps. If you have a question about any of them DONT be afraid to ask just dont do it as AMP A vs AMP B or sub A vs sub B. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole

Krakin Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 I think what would help the OP the most with a $1000 budget is to have a list of everything he needs. From what I understand is that he has a strict stock system and needs quite a bit. Head Unit Everything to hookup the head unit along with an alarm. Amp Sub Enclosure Power wire, speaker wire, RCA's, Remote wire. Fuses (But I would recommend OP getting a wiring kit unless he has some experience with electrical.) I'm sure there is more just haven't thought of them yet. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
