97EK Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Have 2 sa-8 v.2's power by kicker kx1200.1, need help building box for back seat of civic. Probably want ported, dimensions are pretty much wide open. Any ideas what would sound best running off that power in a small cabin? Thanks. Listen mainly to rap but the occasional pop.
Maebros Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Take a look at some of the other civics around the forum. Guys have done all kinds of thigs I our civics. Everyrhing from a basic setup like mine to a carbon who has a wall. That might give you a better idea of of what you are looking for and then you question might be easier to answer. Build logs you should look at carbon, Hatersgonnahate (if you can sort through all the asshole jokes) Scooter99 (he has done a few different things) Sheena Myself (nothing special in mine and its not done yet so mines probably not a very good one lol ) There arevalso a coue other guys aroud the forum with civics. Joshex Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Civic with Sundowns, good man! 97EK Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 Well josh, I have never been a fan of subs in the trunk, all cars I've had until this one have been hatches, plus I'm 3 months in to a complete overhaul of the civics interior in efforts to make It somewhat updated. I have gone through and dynamatted the entire interior and placed th padding that is used under carpet in homes in the floor as well as used foam and polyfill in the fenders. I have blocked off the trunk area with 1.5" of mdf and plan on doing 2 mdf boxes for each sa-8 v.2 and an amp rack in the middle with a fiberglass shroud to dress it all. Right now I'm working on door panels, reupholstering and making fiberglass speaker pods. What I really need help with is the right type of enclosure for the subs as I don't know what works best in this type of space, (direction, aero vs slot, inverted vs normal, etc...) thanks for the quick response guys.
Joshex Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Well I'm not expert box builder and have no experience with that type of area. I'n sure there are plenty of people that can chime in with more information. Just have to give them more details on what you want to accomplish with this setup and what not. Hope that you can find an answer for what you're looking for. 95 Acura Integra - 5-speedNFG Pioneer FH-X700BT(2) Rockford Fosgate 12" P3AQ1200dRockford Fosgate P1652-S 6.5" components Rockford Fosgate P1572 5x7"Rockford Fosgate R400.4 95 Integra Build Here93 EJ2 Build Here
scooter99 Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 By back seat you mean the actual back seat? Why not behind the back seat? Just wondering. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
97EK Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 Yes, the backseats have been removed and will not be out back. To be honest, the original reason was because the seats are dated and I don't want to spend the money to reupholster/ buy a second set of seat covers for them so I decided I could just put subs/ amps there and also get a pretty unique civic.
scooter99 Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Well ok. To take up that much space you're not gonna really be able to do it with 2 8's. But you can try, and then do a big trim panel for the amp etc, and then add more later if you want. You could also make what would look like the seat bottom be the enclosure, and port center, and then make the amp rack into the seat back. Not really for people to sit in, but it would look similar to a seat and get you what you want too. You could also build a wall and go that route since your back seat is already out. Carbon is doing one, but he wont' be done anytime soon. Not sure what else off the top of my head. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
97EK Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 I saw carbons build after maebros mentioned it earlier, his civic is a god compared to mine. As you can tell by my username it's nothing special, a 1997 ex that has seen better days. I know that the backseat area wouldn't be close to being filled with box for the 8's I mean, that's only 1 cu ft net. That's why I would have a fiberglass dressing, mainly just to cover the remaining space up. The type of box and port as well as tuning frequency are some of the things I'm still debating on.
scooter99 Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Ok. Well I'll keep following and see what you come up with. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
