trunk car question? need more dbeez!

Recommended Posts

So I have a 87 Caprice. I know its not really a good trunk platform; but I really love this car. I currently have a saz3k on 2 DC 15 xl's-subs up port to the drivers side. I have hit 146.2 sealed on the dash @ 36hz. I'm trying to get louder; but the little things just don't seem to work for me. I have the top of my back seat out and was wondering if I boxed in that area and used a port opening ; could I possibly get louder?

More details on da car:

Trunk, roof and rear doors are deadened well.

Front doors and floor aren't deadened.

4 dry cells and 2 alts(200amp and 140amp)

Box is tuned to 34

87 Caprice twin-turbo 6.0

2 DC 15 xl's

Sundown 3k

96 Volvo 850r

3 15's on 9k - no wall

I have a caprice too, wagon that is....caprices are quite difficult to get loud due to the sheer volume of the vehicle,146.2 selaed on the dash is VERY impressive giving the equipt you have and the type of vehicle ,but I can get you louder..send pics of your set up or hit me on facebook

Try and make the box more efficient using flares, making the interior of the box more smooth by glassing or painting it and maybe putting some PVC on the pressure points in the box. Also, play with box size and port tuning. Tweak all that stuff and you should have no problem getting 2-3 more decibels out of your system.

Idk man. It seems ok until I see somebody beat my numbers on a pair of twelves.lol

I noticed lately that my volts have been down. Upon further inspection I found a broken brush in my 200 amp alt and a poor connection at the output. My volts are now steady at 13.7 idling and 15.3 @ 2500rpm. I'm very happy with that. I could only hit a 145.9 on Sunday; so this gives me hope. Maybe I will beat my 146.2. I will try to get some clamp numbers in the next couple of days. 15 volts should yield some good power @ .5ohms.
