  1. This 1991 Honda Civic was acoustically built for SPL only.... 15 years ago AFTER 10 years in the audio competiton scene ... I got bored building musical vehicles as SPL numbers required more tuned one note encloser designs to stay competitive ... musical vehicles are nothing new... I still have my musical vehicle since 1994 ..., around 10 years ago the new Bass-Race format influenced major subwoofer manufacturers(SD,DD,DC,AB) to build products for more Musical vehicles that made a comeback due to the advancement in designs of subwoofers technology allowing deeper bass higher excursions etc... most noobs think music is new thing but it's not ,most are not old enough or not been in the audio competition game long enough to understand SPL ... That's why it's common for individuals unfamiliar with the SPL format to ask similar questions as you just did.. obtw the Trunk SPL Civic is at 162 now haha look at Curtis in the back ground plotting lol
  2. Update................ their truck was found burned to the ground.......
  3. Looks interesting , A 4th order flat horizontal design utilizing the vehicle's shell(re-enforced) could work as well. A simple ported encloser with (4) LvL 5's should produce 160 even with one of the DC Audio amps.
  4. Thanks for the Props guys....8449w @ 1/2 ohm Strapped. 2ohm box rise... Trunk build is here ---> http://www.facebook.com/Terry.SPL.Brocks
  5. Thanks for the props guys! One thing I learned these DC Level 4 12's love power and they fricking deliver!! Yeah level 5's would kiss some more trunk records bye-bye ,lol
  6. Areoports provide the best spl output, prefab or custom made.
  7. Utilizing the trunk as the encloser is crucial, make sure the inside trunk panels are braced off using MDF etc ,I foamed insides ,then paneled them off with mdf and then dynomated over. I see many trunk competitors build nice strong good enclosers but their designs is only as good as strength and solidarity of the actual trunk! another way of explaining it is....you don't build a skyscraper on quicksand. Foundation is the most important thing in anything. If trunk Lid,sides and panels are not strong, then rear firing box encloser means nothing, here's a few examples of how I strengthened my trunk and I actually tested a rear firing prefab box that did 150+ NOTE: Make sure you rear light panels, vents are sealed from leaking air! You don't have to necessarily make your trunk ugly like mine but it can still be braced with wood with carpet in etc , just make the design and see what happens
  8. Make your box very similar to mine use at least 3-4 cu allowable, instead of using one large areo port use two 6" areo ports, place them externally all the way to the entrance of your trunk, for daily driving just plug up one of your 6" inch areo ports. you might not be able to stack port one on top of the other so just diagonally install them and place 12's on opposite sides
  9. You should hit well over 140 with that kind of power/cone area depending on vehicle model and encloser design.
