I paid 150$ for my JL used and its worth every penny. New they are rather pricey but the x-over section is phenomenal. Sure there is better values out there but there are more factors to an amp then just watt per dollar IMO

I have read the forum rules so I won't ask which particular brand is better but I have too many choices (I've been looking at new, used and refurbished and there's about 20 that might work well with what I have ). How do I tell if a used amp is any good or should a newbie just stick with new (with warranty). If I can afford a new 1000 W mono amp, is there any reason why I should get one less powerful? According to some, 1700 W is a lot and doesn't need anything more than a cap... Others seem to think 1000 W requires upgrading my electrical. Stupid question, but if I wire in another battery (I have a new one that I never got rid of), can I go wrong with the switching the Kicker with the Focal that I have and buying a 1000 W for the sub? If so, what (other than 2 ohm stability and wattage) should I look for in an amp dedicated to driving the subs I have? I like low bass (e.g. E-40)... Does that make a difference?

I narrowed it down to a choice between two monoblock (class D) amps. Both make 1000W RMS @ 2 ohm to match the subs, they're both new (with 2+ year warranty), and they're basically the same price (+/- $10):

JL Audio JX1000/1D Monoblock ($375) vs. MTX Audio RT1000D 1000W monoblock ($400). I'm guessing someone here knows a good reason to pick one or the other (but maybe I'm wrong). Is there any clear choice? If so, please explain why you'd pick one of these 2 over the other ... also let me know if you'd avoid both and get something else.

I hate to admit it, but I'm getting more confused about this the more I read ...

Time for bed ;-)

For those who are wondering what's going on, I signed in to the forum as l8apx to start the thread then signed in with facebook (using my real name, Aiden) when I couldn't remember my password. From now on I'm l8apx.

Does anyone know how I can delete the "Aiden Hawnt" profile?

Yep ... new to this shit!

your thread is quickly turning into a vs. thread, and thatll get locked with the quickness, friend. we cant tell ya to buy one or tgw other, both are of reasonable quality.

yep, fair warning genesis. I feel like I learned something (well, at least I think so, ha ha) about different kinds of amps, but just not enough to confidently choose between these. Then again, I probably wouldn't be able to hear the difference anyway! As long as she booms and can be tuned not to clip, I know I'll be happy!

I would get a nice xs power battery for a car that nice, have you seen soundqubed amplifiers? I had an 2 mtx amps so far a tc600.1 and a thunder xd600.1 both failed due to components inside them.
